Detroit based chef Max Hardy started his non-profit “One Chef Can 86 Hunger” to help feed his community, and not even COVID-19 has stopped him from continuing his mission.

THE PRODUCTION STORY

This was truly a collaboration of new volunteers for us. Produced by Nick Warren-Mordecai remotely from Los Angeles, and filmed by Bill Bowen in Detroit, there were many challenges along the way. Assistant Editor Ilana Lewis organized one of our largest projects from a media standpoint, and Lewis Avramovich brought his editing talents to the table to create a very stylized piece. Colorist Jeremy Derringer rounded out the piece, melding the various cameras used into one cohesive color palette. And once again, thanks to our good friends at Vanacore Music for their continued contribution.

I enjoyed interviewing Chef Max, learning about his story and how that is woven into his desire to give back to his community. Love working with Steve Kaufman and being given the opportunity to tell crafted stories for people who normally wouldn’t have the resources. Steve and the team picked up where I left off, elevated the material to its maximum potential and made an inspiring piece that I’m proud to say that I was a part of.
